Suzuki Swift is Assembled in Malaysia
I wasn’t a fan nor a freak of compact cars. The fact that I have a large physique had deterred me to opt for cars no smaller than a Kancil, or a Daihatsu Charade. I can’t even imagine of owning a small car, for fear that my poor back would break if I ever take it to long distances. It’s ultimately a big NO if any car salesperson approaches me selling a car without any ‘tail’, even if the package comes with free petrol, ASTRO or shopping vouchers. Not that I’m being cruel upon him/her or that I loathe compact cars but it’s just not my type of tea. Can it be that I had this phobia of small cars when I had a Kancil during my driving classes some 10 years ago.
My impression of small cars changed until I had this eye-opening, enlightening experience on the not-so-new Suzuki Swift compact car.

Even at stationary, the Sport looks as if its ready to pounce!
I had the opportunity to test-drive the Suzuki Swift for the first time weeks ago at their assembly plant in a small town called Pekan, Pahang. It was a 1-nite affair, lots of driving and mingling with fellow testers from the media, and of course, got the chance to unwind in the tranquil, laid-back Kuala Rompin.
Yes, the Suzuki Swift is now locally assembled by our Malaysian boys. It has been a fully-imported compact car since 2005, and have also gain good recognition among the Malaysian public. According to DRB-Hicom who distributes the Suzuki vehicles in Malaysia, about 90% of the Swift’s parts are still coming from Suzuki Japan, which, in stages, localization will take place in the progress of time.
Simultaneously, Suzuki Malaysia has introduced its Sport version of the Swift with a number of goodies packed in the hatchback, during the public launch at 1 Utama last week.

To sum up the Swift’s overall capabilities, it’s surely a car for the younger generation and to those young-at-heart wanting for some serious fun. Not to forget, the Swift is the ideal car for young women. To entice the male market, the Swift Sport is here to do the job.
