Brand-new Mazda2 launched in China

The latest baby from Mazda China was revealed recently at the 2007 Guangzhou Motorshow - the Mazda2 (Demio in Japan) The mini-sedan is produced by Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., Ltd in Nanjing, China.  There will be a 4-doors sedan and a 5-doors hatchback version to be sold in the booming Chinese market in January 2008.

New kid on the block to prowl the Chinese streets

Comes with either a 1.3l or 1.5l engine, the Mazda2 powerplant is mated with either a 4-speed auto transmission or a 5-speed manual transmision churning out 85 and 102 horsepowers respectively.

Very luxurious looking piece of art on the rear

The interior is created with a sporty ambiance, with a touch of class thanks to the leather-wrapped seats for both front and rear.  The center console sports a pair of funny-looking air-cond vents - a Mickey Mouse silhouette. Controlling the audio is easy using the switches and buttons on the steering.

Are we in the wrong car?? No Japanese feel in here.

Here’s looking at you, Mickey Mouse! :D

There is also a sunroof to complement the Mazda2, adding more spice to the already-stylish mini car.  No more using the conventional pump and pulley for turning the car, the Mazda2 comes with electric power steering as well.

For all the Zoom-Zoom that you need

This B-segment car comes with ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electric brake-force distribution) and EBA (Emergency Brake Assist). The front seats are also fitted with dual SRS airbags with pre-tensioners and load-limiters for reducing impact upon frontal collisions.

Creamy vanilla leather makes the cabin looks spacious.

The overall styling of the car was tastefully done with the right curves and shapes. The rear side looks rather high therefore I am very sure reverse sensors are pre-fitted for ease in parking the vehicle.

‘Chang An Mazda’ in Chinese, it spells.

Sportier version of the Mazda2

It is a recommended car for the younger market in China thanks to its stylish looks. Mazda also claims that fuel efficiency on the Mazda2 is one of the best and is environmentally friendly with its Euro IV-compliant emissions.

The Mazda2 will be the direct competitor to the renowned Toyota Yaris. I really hope this car will make it to Malaysia soon. The current mini-sedan models (like the City and Vios) are too common a sight… i think.

Price is not released at time of publish.
