Since the launch of the new Proton Saga 2 weeks ago, sales have been brisk and is reaching the 5-figure mark. Currently, the total number of bookings are at 9,063 units in just 4 weeks. Bookings for the new Saga was open for 2 weeks before the launch date.
The determining factor in boosting Proton’s earnings?
Come this 24th February 2008, a charity project will be held at the Sepang International Circuit to raise funds for the recent flood victims in Malaysia.
A joint project between the Porsche Club Malaysia (PCM), Ferrari Owner’s Club (FOC), Sepang International Circuit (SIC) and Forces of Nature Aid Foundation (FOS), this event is an opportunity for racing fans to get upclose and personal with the speed demons on the racing tarmac.

It was the first for Ssangyong Malaysia to send an offroad team to take part in the Rainforest Challenge that was held back in December 2007. This news may seem somewhat outdated but I couldn’t help but admire in awe HOW the Actyon survived in competitions like this. I mean, it is a luxury pick-up truck and is meant to be driven mostly on tarmac but this one turns out to be very gung-ho in roughing up the jungles of Kedah-Terengganu.

Proton is on a roll here since last August 2007 with the launch of the Persona with vehicle orders soaring up to 5 digits. Actual number is unknown as of today. So far, the Persona on the roads have been behaving quite good according to the owners. Of course, the most rantings I received was that the Persona could have come with the Campro engine with CPS (Cam Profiling System), the equivalent of the VVT-i of the Toyotas or the i-VTEC for the Hondas.

Prices of fuel didnt went up in Malaysia as what was rumoured before the New Year 2008 struck at 12 am. However, this doesn’t mean that the government will not announce a price increase for our petrol and diesel in the near future. We as consumers of the precious commodity are pushed to the edge to hope for a better alternative if prices keep on surging . Looks like the year of the Rat is bringing in sweet news to our ears.

No, its not JUST another truck to hit the market but it’s a truck to revel with the luxuries packed in it. Although a late-comer in the trucking scene in Malaysia, it is an effort by the Korean automaker to not lose out in the slowly-but-surely demand for pick-up trucks.
