Mercedes-Benz is tops in Asia
Bernama have reported that Mercedes-Benz is a chart-topper among other automotive marques in luxury vehicles in Southeast Asia and India. A total of 17,400 units were sold in the region last year compared to 14,200 units in 2006.

In Malaysia itself, sales have jumped to 14%. The rest of the countries are as follows :
- Thailand up by 15%
- Indonesia at 84%
- Vietnam at 60%
- Singapore at 22%
- India at 13%
Daimler AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz is on a roll now with admirable worldwide sales records. The S-class scored tops and remains unshaken as a market leader in luxury cars. The face-lifted new C-class, however, gave the company a boost with its launch last year and has been very competitive in its segment.
Daimler also makes the Maybach and Smart marques. Both marques have also increased in sales by 2% in 2007.
The company has a workforce of 279,650 employees, and have achieved revenues of about RM699 billion in 2006 with total of over 4 million cars sold worldwide.
In Malaysia, DaimlerChrysler Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has been renamed to Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. , distributes all Mercedes, Maybach, Smart and Mitsubishi Fuso trucks and spare parts.
I must agree that Mercedes-Benz is most popular among the rich people. I went for a test drive over the last weekend for 3 luxury cars - Merc S-Class, BMW 7-series and Jaguar XJ6. They are priced around RM650,000+ , and based on my opinion, the Mercedes-Benz is the most comfortable luxury car of all.
More details of the test drive will be posted soon.
