That something special was the Persona SE

Proton recently launched the well-accepted Persona SE (Special Edition) after making the debut last year with sales of over 52,000 units, catapulting the car maker to profits and regained trust from Malaysians.

The few enhancements made on the Persona SE include leather-wrapped interiors and gadgets for the road.

A very Special Edition for a better Raya celebration

Boasting a full black leather specifically on the steering wheel, gearknob, door panels and all passenger seats, the SE spells sporty in its sense, blooming into a full-fledge car that signifies comfort and luxury with a touch of sporty.

Meter panels have been given the red and amber finishings claimed to provide better vision, same time portrays a sporty feeling to the driver.

A claim of assurance by Dato’ Syed Zainal

For fuel economy, an auto cruise feature is loaded in the Persona SE. Driving on constant speed actually saves fuel but not when you keep it at 120kmh! :P

Comfort made more comfortable with leather

A GPS satnav is also bundled when you buy an SE. Plus, new maps are given free for one year to be uploaded into the GPS unit. I dont know how good is the GPS but it look abit plain in the graphical sense, unlike the infamous Garmin Nuvi types.

Luxury touches even on the gearknob

On the outside, the front grille where the Proton logo sits is now painted in silver matte colour and the same treatment applied on all door handles. The most significant sporty feature are the head lamps dressed in black bezels, also found in the new GEN2 CPS.

It is loaded with Campro IAFM

On the rear, the boot cover gets a groove for easy gripping when opening the door - a feature that should long be available when it was launched last year. I dont see why they had to remove it since it was also available in the previous GEN2s.

Leather is not spared even for the door panels

Priced at RM59,800 with insurance, the Persona SE comes in two new colours - Brilliant Red and Blue Haze.

The grin that we’re familiar with

Proton targets to sell about 500 units monthly of the Persona SE but it would be too conservative a figure because the regular Persona, up till today, still sell like hot roti canais.

Watch out for the SE at least 2 months from now

After having garnered an award by Frost & Sullivan as the Best Model of the Year 2008, I believe the masses had opened their arms to welcome Proton’s comeback in the automotive industry. With the MPV waiting to be launched, many would feel that Proton has certainly grown more matured since Tengku Mahaleel left.

But only if they could improve the quality and efficiency of their service centres
