Essential Motoring 101

I am back! Sorry for having the blog down for almost a month. This is the price one pays for being a layman in online database stuff. :p But anyway, my blog is alive and back in action! Wanna thank a good friend of mine KWC to help clean up the ‘mess’. Still, there are more stuff being fine-tuned so please bear with the layout and links of the blog.

To resume posting, I have one experience to share. I just renewed my car license and this is my first time doing it online! I heard a lot about MyEG, the country’s first online insurance and road tax renewal system, launched last year but here I am, for the first time ever using their service. Why? Because I had no choice – today is my last day of driving my car because the roadtax expires today itself

Well, since I dont have much time and I need to use the car tomorrow, what the heck, MyEG was the last resort. I went to www.myeg.com.my and keyed in my full name and IC number and clicked on submit. To my surprise, my insurance policy number was added to automatically. I bought my car insurance from AIA and there is was, the policy number and insuring company details. I clicked the next step to pay by Maybank2U transfer and confirmed the transaction. At the end of that process, it says ‘please allow up to 3 working days to process the issuance of roadtax’. Hard luck for me this time, I still have to wait..

Later in the afternoon, I received a call from a stranger and he mentioned my name and that I renewed my roadtax using MyEG. I accepted everything he said and was shocked when he told me that my road tax is APPROVED and will deliver after lunch time! :O Was I lucky or what!

By 3pm, he came to my office (I used my office address as the destination of delivery) and handed me a parcel. I ripped it open and there it was, my new roadtax! I scrutinized at every details on that piece of plastic paper and was dead convinced that it is a valid and true copy of the roadtax.

Wow, talking about efficiency in a government agency! This I have to respect! Just hope they continue their good work for all Malaysians.
