It is a sad fact that more and more cars are stolen every day in Malaysia. Many of those cars are luxury ones and are highly sought after from overseas market like United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. And because there is a demand from other countries, these car theft syndicates have no fear in stealing our cars and ship it out within hours because tracing a stolen car is almost impossible.
Electric cars run on battery-powered motors on each wheels and because the motors are non-audible, these cars could pose a threat to pedestrians especially those who are visually challenged (blind). Running on high speeds causes wind noise and tyre sounds but when doing very low speeds around the neighbourhood, where people are most likely be walking, could be dangerous due to its silent operation.

Many would-be owners of electric cars might have figured what if the car runs out of battery halfway on a freeway, what can be done? Charge it up of course! But where? And how?
The people in America just created history by setting up a ‘green highway’ that enables electric cars to have a quick charge. The state of Washington has taken serious efforts to build environmentally- friendly freeways with the world’s first ‘electric highway’ on a USD1.32 million federal grant.
The I-5 highway runs from Washington, California, Arizona and Tennessee and the District of Columbia, and nearly 15,000 charge stations will be plotting the whole stretch.
Because there will be an influx of electric vehicles starting with the Nissan LEAF this December, the state government is wasting no time to cater for the boom in demand for electricity.
With a starting price of USD26,220 (RM82,000) for a LEAF, it’s so competitive that many Americans would make the instant switch without thinking twice, in exchange with their gas-guzzling V8s to the smooth, sharp and super fuel-efficient electric car.

Nasim Sdn. Bhd. just launched an after-sales and corporate social responsibility campaign that runs for three months to mark the 200th anniversary of Peugeot.
Since the launch of the Peugeot 3008 SUV, Nasim has been overwhelmed with over 300 bookings of the vehicle
The 3008 garnered a huge fan base in a short time since its launch in June 7th and even surpassed the company’s target of 120 units monthly. Nasim’s boss, SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin said that the company is confident in catering to the overwhelming demand. He said the 3008 had already captured the hearts of the Europeans and therefore it is no surprise that the same would happen here in Malaysia.
With support of such grandeur, Nasim is well on its way towards exceeding their sales target of 2,930 units in year 2010. As at May 2010, total units sold is at 1,308 units.
As part of the reason to celebrate the warm response of the 3008, Nasim is offering an after-sales and CSR campaign for three months from July 1st to September 30th, 2010.
The after-sales initiative will include a free 25-point inspection on engine, transmission, suspension, steering and braking system for all Peugeot car owners at all Peugeot service centres nationwide.
There’s even more for car owners who send in their cars for service at any Nasim service centres during the 3 month will also receive a special commemorative gift to mark the 200th anniversary of the auto brand. The 20% discount since May is still available for selected spare parts too.
As for the CSR campaign, Nasim pledges to donate to Hospis Malaysia for each Peugeot car sold throughout the 3-months period.
