Every one of us have in some point experienced the perils of a major traffic jam in our country. City dwellers are the most hit where they have to combat the morning and evening traffic congestion on a daily basis.
Being caught in a traffic jam is a torture upon your mental, physical and even your bladder. It gets worse if the congestion is caused by rain or flood.
The path towards heaven, NOT!
But this situation is not considered critical on Malaysian soil. Lets direct our attention to the traffic condition in China, specifically the highway connecting Beijing and Huai’an in Heibei province. The traffic congestion there lasted for 10 days along the 100km stretch!
The cause of the jam was not due to any alien invasion, or even accidents. Blame the hundreds of heavy vehicles running on the bad condition of the highway. Apparently, the highway authorities were doing maintenance roadwork but cannot close the entire highway because thousands depend on it for daily commuting. They had no choice but to do their work amidst the busy highway, during rush hour or not.
More story of this HERE.
On the local front, Malaysian road authorities have started banning heavy vehicles such as lorries and trailers from entering the major highways during peak hours. This ban started in August 2nd and I am not sure how well did this exercise went.
Is our traffic condition slowly turning to that of China’s? We should be thankful that this situation is not happening yet in Malaysia.
Are you a road user of NKVE and the ELITE highways? How did it improve your daily commuting to and from work?
If you are an advertising company, this stretch of road will surely get your message across easily!
